Key Features:

Presentations on:

  • Paget and Paget’s diseases – Paget was a surgeon, pathologist, researcher and teacher. He described a remarkable number of new diseases.

Also:

  • Present your poster.
  • Meet friends and colleagues after the session at a complimentary drinks reception.

Sir James Paget Bt was a Barts man, student and surgeon, who became President of the Royal Society of Medicine 1875-77 and the Royal College of Surgeons of England 1875. At least five diseases carry his name eponymously (bone, breast, vulva, Paget-von Schrötter disease, Paget’s abcess).

At this special meeting, short scientific or historical papers, case reports and posters are invited, especially if they are on the subject of one of the diseases associated with the name of Paget and in particular if they have a cosmetic angle as the meeting is a section meeting of the newest Section of the RSM, the Section of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.

His direct lineal descendant, Sir Henry Paget Bt will be attending the Royal Society of Medicine, on Wednesday afternoon 5.11.25, where he will give a brief account, from the family perspective, of his illustrious ancestor.

If you or your colleagues or juniors would like either to attend the meeting or to present a poster, please contact: presidentaesthetic@rsm.ac.uk and aesthetic@rsm.ac.uk.

Presenters will have free registration.

Among the diseases that were first described by Sir James Paget are:

  • Paget’s disease of bone
  • Paget’s disease of the nipple
  • Extramammary Paget’s disease
  • Trichina spiralis
  • Osteitis dessicans
  • Osgood-Schlatter disease
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Paget-Schroetter disease
  • Paget recurrent spindle cell tumours
  • Paget recurrent abscesses

If you have experience of any of these diseases, especially if your case has an aesthetic angle, please contact presidentaesthetic@rsm.ac.uk and aesthetic@rsm.ac.uk and your presentation (oral or poster) will be included in the programme.
